Gala Exhibition is a graduate exhibition at KISD, and it is fully organised by undergraduate students. Normally it is exhibited in a city museum such as the Museum of Applied Arts in Cologne (MAKK), but this year we held it in a former industrial building in the design quarter of Ehrenfeld, Cologne. We planned to reach a larger audience that might not visit museums frequently but are still interested in design, since they are very likely to be our future customers or employees.
We did not only constructed the complete exhibition system, but also organised the surrounding parties and lectures.
The exhibition system consisted of two portraits of each student, the front and the back of their head, with their graduation work mounted between them in a representation of their materialised thought.
